Behind the Seams of our New Year's Eve Photoshoot

The only good things about winter are catching fat snowflakes on your tongue like you did when you were a kid, and also all the holiday parties, abounding with charcuterie boards and mulled wine. Everything that doesn’t fall between end-of-November to mid-January sucks. Luckily for us, we are at peak celebration season and as 2019 draws to a close, the end of the decade leaves us ample opportunity to throw the New Years bash of our dreams. 🙋🏽

Basking in the glow of a simulated night out on the town, Sheertex shot a New Years Eve campaign this month. There is nothing I love more than getting ready with friends and tumbling around my apartment to find the perfect dress. Put your hands up if you think the best part of any party is getting ready for it!
Let me set the scene: it’s a brisk, winter day in December. Cold and cloudy but very little snow so at least I’m not wiping melted snowflakes out of my eyelashes. Three models and four crew members tumble into an Air BNB in the Old Port to create some beautiful content! (For those not familiar with our home of Montreal, the Old Port is stunning - very European; cobblestone streets, basilicas, and expensive juice bars come together to create the perfect backdrop for my ideal New Years Eve.)

I stole the models away from the lights and cameras to ask them about their own ideal New Years Eve, and what, for them, makes a perfect night.

“A really good house, with really good friends. Not too pressed about where we’re going, just good people, good setting, and good music. That’s it.”

Where to do it?

Spend the night at home or spend it at a cozy resto-bar, sipping amaretto sours and reminiscing on a tumultuous decade. Who needs the ball drop or the hoo-rah when you can spend your evening relaxed and comfortable without a care in the world. We made it, and we’re ready to start the new year with bright eyes and rosy cheeks.

What to wear?

Just because you’re staying home doesn’t mean you can’t get dressed up. My favourite stay-at-home-festivities look is a slip dress - something comfortable that flows well and allows me to eat all the potluck offerings my body can stomach. Pair with thigh highs for an undone, cozy-yet-sultry look that will keep your calves and thighs toasty warm as you float into 2020.

“A few close friends making food at home, setting some good intentions for the new year, and just hanging out on a cozy couch.”

Where to do it?

Find a cozy couch. Any cozy couch will do, but make sure it’s the kind you sort of sink into and then have a lot of trouble getting up from. Make sure the snacks and wine are nearby. Make sure you have a journal and pen in your lap. Giggle at inside jokes and all the memes that haven’t grown old yet until your stomach hurts. And then waltz off into 2020 refreshed and ready to manifest everything you’ve ever wanted.

What to wear?

We encourage ultimate cozy vibes. Set your favorite oversized sweater and our Classic Sheers up on a hot date. Our nude shades of Classic Sheers will mimic bare legs but provide the warmth and comfort needed to keep you snuggled up as you wave goodbye to 2019 and welcome 2020 in at midnight for a hot cup of cocoa.

“To spend it with people I appreciate and love. I think crossing over into the New Year with people who have the same mindset and who have supporting you through the previous year is very important. It’s important to harvest and appreciate that friendship or that relationship and show them that you care so much for them and that you want them to be there when you crossover to the new decade.”

Where to do it?

Find the spot with the best music and drag everyone you’ve ever loved there. Take them all in your arms and spin them around in dramatic dance moves that are both endearing and embarrassing. Dance until dawn, and when it’s been 2020 for a few hours, don’t forget to tell the people you love that they matter to you. Another decade isn’t promised.

What to wear?

You need something you can dance in. This is a requirement. And let’s be real, if you can’t dance in it, why is it in your closet to begin with? Short, long, loose, fitted -- doesn’t matter as long as you can bust it down. Pair with our new Bow Sheers; the kind of pantyhose that offers the perfect amount of flirtatious vibes while still boasting the kind of durability that will keep your outfit in its best shape all night long.

So, Pinterest the best selection of DIY cocktails your friends have ever seen and let the celebration begin. Whether you’re staying in or hitting the town, Sheertex wishes you a magical and safe New Year full of love, abundance, and all the celebration of your dreams.
